Carousel, Central Park, Holden Caulfield, J.D. Salinger, Mark Butkus photo, The Catcher in the Rye
Built by Stein and Goldstein in 1908, the Carousel in Central Park is more than an amusement ride for children. Comprised of 58 hand-carved horses the Carousel was featured on the original first edition cover of The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger and “that nutty music they always play” is described by Holden Caulfield on page 210.

Thank you for visiting my page! And, for this beautiful picture. I spent about ten years carving carousel figures so this brought back a lot of memories! I’ll be rooting for your New York Giants in the Super Bowl. We have Eli Manning’s brother here with the Indianapolis Colts. Or did have.
Made a decision last night to drive to Indy for the game. It will be one heck of a party if the Giants win and I want to be there…two more years before the Super Bowl comes to NYC (well Jersey anyway).
