According to the New York City Taxi and Limousine Commission there are almost 50,000 men and women licensed to drive yellow cabs. To be exact there are 49,546 cabbies driving the more than 13,000 taxis on the streets of New York. Since 1967, all New York taxis have been painted yellow to aid in recognition and to cut down on unlicensed cabs.

I had the pleasure of visiting NYC for the first time in August 2010… rode the subway, train and yes- even a taxi cab. Great memories there! Hope to visit again.
